We performed the installation and training of the specialized equipment AutoStainer Link 48 of Agilent Technologies / Dako, at Laboratory Services and Consultants Limited, located in the Vieux Fort district of the island of St. Lucia. This equipment is used to perform immunohistochemistry tests, which are important for the diagnosis of different pathologies, including breast cancer. It is worth mentioning that this is the first automated equipment installed in the whole Island, for the performance of these types of tests, which translates into a benefit for the country and the health of its inhabitants.

The installation was in charge of our technical service department and the training was performed by the laboratory advisory department. The persons who received the training were: Mya Louis, a second year student of the Medical Laboratory Science program in Barbados, who is spearheading the launch of the project and Dale Louis a histotechnologist of Lab Services Ltd; in addition, the histotechnologists, Yvanic Edward, Dr. Keva Joseph, Kishan Dornelly, Nasha Joseph and Diana Reyes; as well as the pathologists Dr. Stephen King, Dr. Odalis Wilson and Dr. Irina Marin.

We congratulate Laboratory Services and Consultants Limited for the initiative in the implementation of technological improvements for the timely diagnosis of cancer that will benefit both the inhabitants of St. Lucia and nearby islands, and we wish them success in this new project.
